In the Fission Room, the third part of the progress tour, the visitor comes through floating planets and starry clouds of space to study the inner workings of their tiniest components, the atoms. Huge models of a nuclear reactor, a uranium fuel assembly and an animated atom lead to a dazzling panel where moving lights show how energy from the atom’s nucleus is released as heat to become the safe and useful servant of mankind.
