Stephens College, 1945
Columbia, Montana
above: girls are taught how to apply lipstick in a way that is flattering to each face type.
Full college credit given for a personal appearance course called a “Charm course”. Girls taught how to design and make clothes, how to sit, use make-up and even take a proper bath. The course was put together by Hollywood clothes designer Muriel King and instructed by two former models and a New York dress designer. The course was the brain child of smart Stephens College President, James Madison Wood. He decided to impliment the course in an effort to maintain Stephens College record of 83% of its graduates getting married in five years.
